In today’s fast-paced real estate industry, brokerages rely heavily on real-time data to monitor performance and optimise operations. Recently, we worked with a leading real estate brokerage to develop a custom Power BI solution that delivers key insights into their call activity, empowering the client to track and improve broker performance more effectively.
The Challenge
Our client, a large real estate brokerage, needed to closely monitor call activity across its team of brokers. Calls are a critical part of their business, and they wanted to understand not only how many calls each broker was making, but also how much time was being spent on these calls. In addition, the client required visibility into the timing of these calls, including the first and last call each broker made daily.
The client also wanted to track these metrics in real-time and needed a solution that would scale with their growing data needs.
The Solution: Power BI Integrated with Oracle Database on AWS
To meet the client’s requirements, we developed a tailored Power BI solution that loads data directly from an Oracle database hosted on AWS. This data-driven approach allows the brokerage to see detailed information on call activity for each broker, including:
- Number of calls per broker: Measured on both daily and weekly intervals, helping management keep an eye on individual and team performance.
- Talk time per broker: Key to understanding the level of engagement, this metric is tracked daily and weekly to give insight into productivity.
- First and last call per day: For each broker, the report shows when their first and last call occurred. This provides a clear picture of daily work habits and broker availability.
- Average time of first and last call: This is calculated for each broker, offering insights into typical working patterns and helping the management team optimise workflows.
These insights are made possible through a robust Power BI data model, featuring advanced DAX calculations that track essential KPIs. The solution goes beyond simple metrics, offering detailed analysis to ensure the brokerage can take action on the data.
Real-Time Reporting with Power BI Premium Capacity
Given the need for real-time insights, the report is refreshed every 30 minutes. This ensures that the client has up-to-the-minute data on broker activity, enabling quick decision-making and the ability to respond to changes as they happen. This level of frequent data refresh requires Power BI Premium capacity, which ensures high-performance reporting without compromising on scalability as the client’s data volume grows.
